The Word of God…

The Bible is God’s inspired Word. Through it He reveals Himself to us as a just and loving God who hates sin but loves the sinner. His great love for the sinner is shown through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross for our sin. The Bible is the foundation of all we teach and believe, and a guide for daily living.

The Triune God…three persons in one God.

The Father created the world, still preserves it and provides for us.  The Son, Jesus Christ, took the sins of all people to the cross so that all who believe in Him as Savior will be redeemed and have the gift of eternal life.  The Holy Spirit works faith in us and keeps us in God’s saving grace. Each person of the Holy Trinity is eternal, equal in power, majesty and honor.

The Sacraments…

Through the Word and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and The Lord’s Supper, God offers us forgiveness for our sins, assurance of salvation, and equips us to live for and serve Jesus, His Church, and others.

We believe that, through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, God the Holy Spirit works faith in Christ in the infant and seals faith in the believing adult.  Parents and godparents take the responsibility to train youngsters in the Word and love of God.  All baptized persons should daily remember their baptismal vow and renounce the Devil and his wicked works and ways, pledge faithfulness to the Triune God, and amend their sinful lives.

We believe that through the Sacrament of the Altar, also known as Holy Communion, God forgives our sins and strengthens our faith.  In this sacrament, we receive, with the bread and the wine, the body and blood of Christ as Jesus declares in Matthew 26:26-28. (Read more on the Lord’s Supper…)

Eternal Life and Salvation…

We believe that the first man and woman disobeyed the command of God (Genesis 3) and sinned, separating themselves from God.  In God’s love and mercy He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to redeem mankind from sin, death, and the devil’s power.  Jesus earned salvation by going to the cross, carrying the burden of our sin. Through His death and resurrection, all who trust in Him alone will be confident of eternal life. Faith and salvation are God’s free gifts given to those whom God has chosen. (John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 5:19)

We believe that, since we cannot live a life that merits salvation, it is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ that we are delivered from sin, death, the devil, and eternal damnation (Ephesians 2:8-9).  God the Holy Spirit gives us the faith to believe this and keeps us in faith through the power of the Word of God and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We as His People…

We believe we are sinners and see our need for a Savior who forgives all our sins. We worship regularly, partake of the Sacraments and strive to be in prayer and God’s Word daily. We share this Good News with those around us. We believe that, in response to His love for us, we shall respond to Him with our lives and our gifts.  This means coming together in worship of the Triune God, giving Him our thanks, praise, obedience, and service.
